RHYMNEY VALLEY, BARGOED COLLIERY TIP from 1997
This theme dates from 1997 when it was decided to remove the massive mining waste heap, reputedly the third biggest in Europe. This was a landmark of epic proportions that gained an iconic status as most other reminders, including all the collieries, of a century of mining had already disappeared.
Each of the many paintings show some aspect of the tips dispersal.
